ABOUT OUR TEACHERS

Our teachers will support your child's learning in the classroom as they discover themselves, their community and how they belong.

Working with children on a daily basis requires patience, compassion, flexibility and above all, a LOVE for teaching and the desire to see each child reach their full potential. We have teachers who fill that criteria with ease.

Psarros

My name is Mrs. Psarros and I am so happy to continue teaching at this wonderful preschool with Mrs. Harder, who shares the same passion and love for teaching as I do.  Together, we have a goal that our students- your babies- feel welcome, safe, and loved. We are committed to offering your child the best quality Early Childhood education with high standards in social and academic excellence. We want our preschool to be a place that your child is excited to attend- a place where they develop skills, knowledge, and a sense of wonder about this amazing world we live in!  It is going to be a fun and exciting year full of learning and new adventures! I am very eager to see what this year has in store for us! I cannot wait to learn ALL about you, but first, I am going to tell you a few things about me.

I was born and raised in a small town in British Columbia. When I graduated, I moved to Victoria, B.C. to attend the University of Victoria, where I gained a background in elementary education. Throughout the years, I have taken many courses, researched, and attended many conferences and seminars to learn more about childhood psychology and how the brain works. I specifically have enjoyed learning about neurodiversity in children. I particularly enjoy working with the Pre-K age group because I love seeing little light bulbs go off in their heads. I enjoy watching children have fun, while making academic and social connections through play. Working with children has always been my passion, and I wholeheartedly believe that investing and nurturing very young, impressionable minds is imperative for their future well-being.  Preschool is a child’s first experience in a school-setting and lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning. As an advocate and lover of education, I acknowledge that the early years are some of the most important, and I am honoured that you chose us to be a part of that process!

There is no cookie-cutter formula for teaching, but I do believe in taking a holistic approach to learning, paying particular attention to each child's physical, personal, social, and emotional wellbeing, as well as to the cognitive aspects of learning. We hope to foster a trusting relationship with your child, so that he/she feels safe and loved, and that your child always knows just how important they are to our classroom family.

Teresa Harder

My name is Mrs. Harder and I am so excited to be part of the teaching team here at Bonnie Doon Playschool!

I have a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta with a minor in Special Education.

After teaching Kindergarten for 3 years, I had the opportunity to start Ellerslie Road Preschool which I ran and taught at for 5 years as we grew from one initial class of 8 students to multiple classes, with over 150 students.

I was fortunate to take a break from teaching to spend more time at home with my growing family and other entrepreneurial endeavours. In the past couple of years, after covering a maternity leave as Lead Teacher at another parent led cooperative preschool, I realized how much I still enjoy being in the classroom and am happy be teaching here at Bonnie Doon Playschool.

I have a special passion for the preschool age group; I love their sense of curiosity, honesty and passion for life. I know everyday is going to be full of laughter and wonder as we embark on this adventure together!
